This seminar brings together experts, policymakers, and practitioners from across the Nordic countries to examine pressing trends in youth crime and explore effective responses. The programme highlights evidence-based approaches to prevention and intervention, with sessions on the effects of criminal policy and system responses to minors, restorative justice and punishment, and strategies such as community policing and urban planning for crime prevention. In addition, young people will share their own perspectives and experiences. The discussions will provide an overview of current youth crime trends, examine the links between youth criminality and organised crime, and explore the evidence base for both preventive and reactive interventions. Promising examples, such as the Estonian model of linking justice, social, and health systems, will also be showcased. Speakers include experts in law, criminology, crime prevention, policing, youth and social work, education and legal psychology from all the Nordic countries and Estonia.
